American Cultural Specialists, LLC (AMCS) is a woman-owned and woman-run small business enterprise that is DBE-certified. A full service archaeological firm, it is listed on the State Historic Preservation Office's list of qualified cultural resource management firms doing business in Connecticut. AMCS and its supervisory personnel meet the professional qualifications standards of the Connecticut State Historical Preservation Office and the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, as stated in 36 CFR 61.
Supervisory personnel have strong background experience in the investigation of historic and Native American archaeology sites. Project manager Dr. Lucianne Lavin has over 30 years of experience in North-eastern archaeology, and is the author of over 100 publications and technical reports. For 20 of those years she has been the owner and P.I. of a woman-owned and woman-run cultural resource management firm investigating archaeological sites in southern New England and New York.
Field Director Dr. Marc Banks has over 15 years of field and laboratory experience in Connecticut archaeology, most of which have been spent in a supervisory capacity.
